Differential
Differential is a special mechanical gearbox or fluid connected between the driving wheels that allow wheels to rotate at different speeds when negotiating turns. This is especially important when going around a corner because the inside wheels usually turn more slowly than the outside wheels. In this way the tires do not scuff or skid. Four-wheel-drive and all-wheel drive vehicles have two differentials, one for the rear axle and one for the front.
