Driveshaft

Drive-shaft refers to the long metal rotating shaft in a vehicle that is located between the transmission and the rear axle, in front-engine rear-wheel drive vehicles. It transfers power from the transmission to the differential. The shaft is connected to the components on each end with a universal joint, which allows for up and down movement without bending the shaft.
