Underinsured/Uninsured Motorists Coverage :-
The Underinsured/Uninsured Motorist Coverage, also known as UM/UIM is the most important coverage under automobile insurance policy. Uninsured/Underinsured motorists coverage provides full payments for all your injuries if you are struck by a hit-and-run driver or some fault party who does not have an insurance, or enough insurance. Your insurance company acts as at fault party's insurance company.
Underinsured motorists (UIM) coverage will make payments for all the medical expenses, if the driver who is responsible for the accident causes more damage than his or her liability coverage can cover. Whereas in the Uninsured motorists coverage (UM), the policy makes payments for the insured members of you're household and your passengers for bodily injuries, damages or death caused by a hit-and-run driver.
In some states, UM or UIM coverage also cover property damages. The Underinsured/Uninsured Motorist Coverage is required in many states. Individuals without health insurance must have this type of policy coverage. One must have at least the minimal amount of UM/UIM because if you can't find the driver responsible for the accident, you'll at least have some coverage for pain-and-suffering damages.
